WIP inventory includes items that are not yet finished but are in some stage of assembly or production. Tracking WIP helps manufacturers understand where bottlenecks occur and how much capital is tied up mid-process. For instance, if 500 face cream jars have been filled but not labelled, they would be considered WIP.
