Tote-based picking uses bins (totes) assigned to individual orders or SKUs during picking runs. The picker places each item into the correct tote based on a digital prompt. It's commonly used in cluster or wave picking workflows. For example, a cart might carry six totes, each assigned to a separate order, with a scanner directing the picker to place SKU123 into Tote 4.
