Discrete picking involves picking all items for one order before moving to the next. It’s simple, easy to train for, and ideal for low-volume operations or highly customised orders. For example, a picker receives an order for three unique SKUs and completes the entire pick path before returning and starting the next order. It’s not as efficient as batch or cluster picking in high-volume environments but offers clarity and reduces complexity.
